Difficulties Facing Higher Education Students and Teachers in Iraqi Universities

Abstract
The current higher education system in Iraq faces many problems. They are not new problems but they are old shaper. In fact that the Universities and colleges for higher learning have lost contact with the outside world on the one hand and that there has not been access to new technology and books and reference materials on the other. This study attempts to define 'the difficulties facing higher education students and teachers in Iraqi Universities'. The methodology of the research included defining the original population, and defining the sample, as well as the research instrument, and the statistical means employed. Concerning the original population, the number of colleges at the University of Baghdad and Al- Nahrain University. As for the research sample, it comprised (126) students male and female, and (60) teachers in colleges at these Universities. The random stratification technique was used to select the sample from many colleges. The Open question method was used for data collection and to obtain the required information. The researchers prepared questioners containing (39) items which were divided into 4 compartments: Security, Economic, Study, and Scientific staff. The take place at the end of academic term on 2006-2007. The validity of the research instrument was confirmed through presentation to numbers of specialists, and the reliability was confirmed through reapplication of the test after an elapse of (12) days. The coefficient correlation was (0,81). The finding of the research revealed that there exist many acute problems that face higher education students and teachers, the most acute was in: Security area. The researcher used: Person’s correlation, Fisher equation, and (SPSS) system as a statistical methods to analysis the results.
